I envision the process of individual therapy as the engagement and dialogue between two human beings both exploring the possibility for growth and change.
Accordingly, my sense is that the relationship between myself and my client, is as vital to supporting positive growth and change as is knowledge of a wide range of psychological theory and practice. The expectation I have that a client is open to growth and change is the same expectation I have for myself as a therapist.
After years of formal training and practice and vital informal training of trial and error in everyday living, I feel quite comfortable making use of the following therapies as my client and I work together:
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy
Gottman Couples Therapy
Object Relations Therapy
Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy
Structural/Strategic Family Therapy
